Cloth Gift Bags

(cut size) 15” X 12” bags  &   15” X 20” bags with draw strings, or use heavier material open bag with straps or and any size smaller (street bags) 4” X 6” whatever size of material you have example 20” by 5” fold in half and sew.

Take two 15” x 12”panels. Sew together three sides.  (Pattern and solid)

Make a 1 ½” hem, leaving a small opening on one of the side seams

Cut macramé cording about 30” tie a knot at each end (so it won’t unravel)

Using a safety pin fasten it to one of the knotted ends and feed it through the hem.

Once it is through tie the two knotted ends together to make sure it won’t come apart and the child doesn’t lose the string.

Notes:

Children’s fabrics are beautiful and we want that material to go as far as possible, so we usually try to get the most out of any patterned material by using a coordinating solid colour on the back side of the bag.

If you have a serger, we round the bottom corners and this goes faster and makes a strong bag.
